Luminescent Cell Lines
Cell lines stably expressing Firefly Luciferase, with or without eGFP expression, can be used for a variety of assays. The overall luciferase activity in a cell culture well is proportional to the number of cells, therefore it serves as a useful proxy to monitor cell growth or cell death. The stable expression allows for growth and expansion of cells with consistent luciferase expression and avoids the need for a cell labeling step prior to experimentation.
Depending on the antigens expressed at the cell surface, they can be used in cell killing assays, such as the Firefly Luciferase/eGFP MM.1S cell line, which serves as a target for CAR or NK cells. Firefly Luciferase cell lines are also very useful for in vivo imaging.
Human RPMI 8226 myeloma B cells constitutively express BCMA and offer a physiologically relevant model to evaluate anti-BCMA immunotherapies. Luciferase activity in the Firefly Luciferase RPMI 8226 Cell Line (#79834) is directly proportional to the cell numbers.
