Mycoplasma Testing

The cell line has been screened to confirm the absence of Mycoplasma species.

Background

HL- 60 cells are an immortal human cell line derived from blood lymphocytes from a patient presenting acute promyelocytic leukemia (an aggressive leukemia). HL-60 cells can be differentiated through the myeloid pathway to become neutrophils by using DMSO, DMF, and other inducers. This cell line can be used in immune disorder and immunology research. The signal generated by the firefly luciferase is proportional to cell numbers.

Storage/Stability

Cells are shipped in dry ice and should immediately be thawed or stored in liquid nitrogen upon receipt. Do not use a -80°C freezer for long term storage.

Growth Media

For best results, it is highly recommended to use these validated and optimized media from BPS Bioscience. Other preparations or formulations of media may result in suboptimal performance.

Thaw Medium 15 (BPS Bioscience, #78412): IMDM medium supplemented with 20% FBS, 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin.

Growth Medium 15A (BPS Bioscience, #78413): IMDM medium supplemented with 20% FBS (Fetal bovine Serum), 1% Penicillin/Streptomycin, plus 500 μg/ml Hygromycin B.
