Coronavirus Antibodies

SARS-CoV-2 has four main structural proteins including spike (S) glycoprotein, small envelope (E) glycoprotein, membrane (M) glycoprotein, and nucleocapsid (N) protein. The spike or S glycoprotein is a transmembrane protein with a molecular weight of about 150 kDa found on the outer portion of the virus.

Spike protein forms homotrimers protruding from the viral surface and facilitates binding of envelope proteins to host cells by interaction with angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a receptor expressed on the surface of pneumocytes and lower respiratory tract cells. Virus detection and neutralization can be achieved by utilizing antibodies against the receptor binding domain (RBD) of SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. These human anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies offer insight into binding specificity and sensitivity for SARS-CoV-2 virus detection and neutralizing effects against SARS-CoV-2 binding to the ACE2 receptor.

Besides anti-SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies, BPS Bioscience also offers anti-human IgG and IgM unconjugated secondary antibodies. These secondary antibodies can be conjugated with HRP, biotin, or fluorescent dyes for antibody detection and ELISA applications.
