HiP™ Proteins

HiP Proteins = High Purity & Low Aggregation

SDS-PAGE is a frequently used tool for determining protein purity, but it doesn’t tell the whole story. Protein aggregation can affect enzyme activity, ligand binding, protein folding, protein interactions, and other functions in vitro. BPS is the only company that checks for aggregation levels via FPLC traces to provide the highest purity and highest quality products.

At BPS Bioscience we hold our products to rigorous QC standards—only those proteins ≥90% purity as measured by gel filtration receive the HiP™ status. The data below demonstrates the importance of checking aggregation levels. While both of these PD-1 proteins are over 90% pure by SDS-PAGE and Coomassie staining, they exhibit very different profiles by FPLC. The protein on the left shows significant aggregation, while the protein on the right is less than 5 % aggregated. Only the protein on the right would earn BPS’s HiP™ distinction.

With HiP™ proteins from BPS, you can be confident in your binding assays knowing that you are working with soluble, functional, native protein. View our full line of HiP™  proteins or request a quote today.
