Background
P21, also known as cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 1A or CDKN1A, inhibits cyclin/CDK (cyclin dependent kinase) complexes and thus inhibits DNA repair and cell cycle progression. P21 also interacts with PCNA (proliferating cell nuclear antigen) and has been reported to inhibit apoptosis. It is activated by p53 and negatively regulated by the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex SCF (Skp, cullin, F-box containing complex). Expression of cytosolic p21 has been linked to cancer, and can be used as a prognostic tool. Studies focusing on p21 will continue to advance the cancer therapy field.
Storage/Stability
At least 6 months at -80°C.
Instructions for Use
Thaw on ice and gently mix prior to use. DO NOT VORTEX. Perform a quick spin before opening. Aliquot into small volumes and flash freeze for long term storage. Avoid multiple freeze/thaw cycles.
