Description: Novobiocin is an aminocoumarin antibiotic that is produced by Streptomyces
niveus. Along with other aminocoumarin antibiotics, novobiocin is a very potent inhibitor of
bacterial DNA gyrase. It works by targeting the GyrB subunit of the enzyme involved in energy
transduction. Novo-TRX is Texas Red-labeled novobiocin, which can be used as a fluorescence
probe in assays for screening DNA gyrase inhibitors.
Appearance: A red aqueous solution
Formulation: Supplied as a 10 µM solution in anhydrous DMSO
Biological Activity: Novo-TRX has been shown to inhibit bacterial DNA gyrase activity with an
IC50 of 0.6 µM.
Storage/Stability: Store at or below -20°C.
Quality Control: The purity was determined by HPLC analysis.
