Background
NSD2 is a histone methyltransferase that preferentially methylates Lys27 of histone H3. Isoform RE-IIBP may act as a transcription regulator that binds DNA and suppresses IL5 transcription through HDAC recruitment. Mutations in the gene for NSD2 are linked to Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome (WHS), a malformation syndrome associated with a hemizygous deletion of the distal short arm of chromosome 4, and is also associated with chromosomal translocations in multiple myelomas.
